October Dessert Fellowship

Ladies, please set aside the evening of Thursday, October 29^th, for a time of fellowship and spiritual growth. We are planning to have an encouraging message along with some yummy desserts. More details to come!

Women’s Retreat Dates Set

Our annual Women’s Retreat will look a little different this year. The leadership team has set the dates for January 8 & 9 and we’ll be headed away to some as yet unknown location. Sounds exciting!

Common Ground Annual Garage Sale

Saturday, October 24th, 8:00a to 3:00p

The youth are seeking your donations and help again this year for their annual garage sale to benefit Gospel for Asia and Camas Meadows Bible Camp. They will be collecting and organizing the week prior to the sale but would especially appreciate any time you can give on Friday evening. Funds are used to buy Christmas gifts for needy families in Asia such as chickens, tools, sewing machines and wells. They also help to support a native missionary and a Bridge of Hope child. Camas Meadows has been a huge blessing to many of our youth, both as campers and counselors and it is their desire to help financially with improvements, upkeep, or scholarships. In this way they can partially return the blessing that Camas has been to them.

Report from Fellowship of Friends Sunday

We look forward each year to our annual family and friends gathering. This year it took place on Sunday, Sept. 20th. It was a special opportunity to enjoy some extended time visiting with the church family – time to get caught up or simply to get to know each other.

It was also a unique opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family that need to hear the message of salvation by faith in Jesus. Along with this special message for the non-believer, we enjoyed an extended time of worship with the praise team.

The kids enjoyed the annual “carnival” with bouncing castle and numerous games. Thanks to the high school kids and many parents who made this a great time of fun. Thanks also to the many people who helped with set-up, cooking and servicing food, clean-up and organization.

Missions Trip Fund Raiser

On Sunday, July 12th, at 4:00pm, we will be hosting a fund raiser for the missions team that is going to the Hands and Feet project in Haiti. Come enjoy a baked potato with lots of toppings along with slides of previous trips.

Ten people from the upper valley, including our Lyndsey Mattes, will be leaving August 2nd and returning on the 11th. They will run a summer Bible school as well as help fix damages done by a hurricane this past winter.

Report from 2009 VBS

We had a fabulous week at Son Rock Kids Camp! We learned about Peter and how he was accepted by Jesus, forgiven, saved, protected and then chose to live for Jesus. Our theme verse which you may see on the back of the VBS T-shirts around town is: “For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works…” Ephesians 2:10. The kids had a great time playing fun games, doing crafts, eating yummy snacks, and learning songs that went along with the stories. We had a record setting 132 kids attend this year. A special “Thank you” to the 59 volunteers that helped all week at camp. Many parents commented on how organized and fun our VBS was for their children…this is a total reflection on our willing church family and friends who dedicate this week to His service. Thanks so much for serving God in this way! We pray seeds were planted that will continue to grow in young lives who want to live for Jesus!

Summer Bible Study for Women

At the center of the Bible is the book of Psalms. This great collection of songs and prayers expresses the heart and soul of humanity.

This summer, enjoy fellowship, an opportunity to ask questions, and time to share life together around God’s word. Each week we will look at a different Psalm from this most personal and intimate of books.

Childcare will be provided up to age 12 and their study will be on the 10 Commandments. We’d be glad to have you! Contact Brenda, Pauline, Liz or Wendy for more details.
